III. Surreal Survival & Language Play

Word Installations

It’s a claw-foot tub, like a ball pit for adults, instead of balls, it is full of pink letter X’s. It’s two mirrors on opposite walls. It’s interactive. People will write the word vulva all over the mirror with sharpies so they can see that language is infinite.

It’s a row boat with a film screen in front of it. People will have to row the boat to read a scrolling poem about derivatives. It’s a plush sofa with blankets knitted out of poems.

It’s the phrase, XXX, arranged out of tea-cups. It’s a corset made of laser cut-outs of words manifesting their constriction.

It’s a video: a woman opens her mouth and an egg births out with the word, No. It falls and breaks on the floor.

It’s a bunch of words sculpted around a woman’s body to look like coral. It’s a corral and there is a woman inside. Words are sculpted into human forms with giant penises pointing at her.

It’s a woman’s body sculpted out of words her parts disintegrating into individual letters and then to dust.

It’s one hundred of Susan Sontag’s book “On Photography” slashed and butchered (tastefully) spray-painted and molded into the shape of a nipple.

All around the room a garland threads the words hymen, hurdle, demon, herding, demand, and mend.
